The National Institute of Metrology (Thailand) (NIMT) was established under the National Metrology Development Act B.E. 2540 (1997) as a public agency operating independently under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. NIMT serves as the principal organization responsible for developing the national metrology system in alignment with international standards. Its core mission is to advance and maintain national measurement standards recognized at the international level, ensure the dissemination of measurement accuracy across the country, and promote knowledge and awareness of metrology within Thai society. These efforts aim to enhance international trade competitiveness, safeguard consumer protection, and support environmental sustainability. NIMT officially commenced its operations on 1 June 1998. Its laboratories are located at Thailand Science Park, Rangsit Klong 5, Pathum Thani Province, and at the Rama VI premises (Acoustics and Vibration Laboratory Building).
