National Institute of Metrology (Thailand), (NIMT) was established by the National Metrology System Development Act B.E. 2540 as a public agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (at that time). NIMT is the principle organ for the national metrology system development in accordance with the International System of Metrology. NIMT was officially began operating in June 1, 1998. Currently, NIMT is supervising under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. It has two campuses, the main campus is situated at the Technopolis, Klong 5, Pathum Thani province and the secondary is on Rama VI Road Bangkok.
